Did you get a new telescope or are you excited about starting astronomy and looking for some astronomy forums for beginners to get help or advice? Read on and I will give you some tips on using the beginner-friendly forums to get advice from the community.
Now you are excited about getting into this hobby and want to jump in, there will be things you need to know before getting started. A community forum such as the astronomy forums at Astronomers Hub is a great way to get information from people who have been doing astronomy for a long time. Many amateur astronomers are passionate about their hobby and willing to share their knowledge and offer advice to people who are new to astronomy, or have been doing one type of astronomy for a while and want to try something different.
Getting Help as A Beginner in Astronomy
A fantastic benefit of a large community is the ability to ask experienced people for help. There are ways you can ask for help to get the best answers and I want to give you some tips to help you get the answers you need from the community.
- Be The New Person - When you want to ask for advice and get help as a new person in the hobby it is important not to pretend you are an expert asking for opinions if you are new and need advice. The importance of telling people you are new is that people can answer your questions in a way that can help you as a beginner.
- Be Active and Responsive - When you get a reply to your question, show them you appreciate the response. When you are not ready to write your response to their post quickly, clicking the like button on their reply immediately after reading it will acknowledge your appreciation for their effort to assist you. You can think about how you want to reply later but try to reply within a few hours because people will be more motivated to help you if you respond.
- Follow The Community Code of Conduct - This is very important because you do not want your questions to be removed. You also want to make sure your topic does not become a discussion about how you violated the community rules because you will not get the help you need. Some simple tips here are to make sure your post is in the correct forum or one that is as close as you can find, don't try and advertise something or ask for opinions about something you are selling and do a search for your question to see if it has already been answered because you may be better of getting involved in an existing conversation than starting a new one about the same thing and asking the same question again. This will be presented to you after you register, so please read it.
They are the best tips I can give you as a beginner. Just be polite, and honest and ask questions. Be patient too because you won't always get a reply immediately, some times it can take some time.
I wish you all the best and welcome you to the Astronomers Hub community. I hope you enjoy your time on the astronomy forums as a beginner and continue to support the community as your knowledge and experience grow.
